Pin Your Feelings Down

i cannot pin your feelings down
i offered coffee
a trip into town
i offered voice
a reverb on that sound
you say things
with a casual look
and a look of innocent eyes
i catch the ball
and then i feel strange
i rush down the hall
and you are there
again, in my mind
smoking a cigarette
and laughing
i cannot work you out
i have changed colours
and shifted shapes
i have made arrangements
of all my mistakes
i have taken your thoughts
and served up better plans
