Closing In

you are close
but then you are far away
a reminder –
of another day
just what does it mean?
is nothing as it seems
are their cavities –
in my feelings?
you are a star
shining so bright
so close
that i could hold you tight
but then there is a distance
and it’s so many light years
just what does it mean
am i just the sum of my fears
am i just a collection
of many well worn years
