Can You Hear Me?

i am just trying to reach out
but no one notices
what does it mean
when no one notices
i will sit in the rocking chair
and knit myself a coat
from balls of woolen despair
i am just trying to scream
but no one notices
what does it mean
when a friend takes away the shine
takes away the gleam
i laugh with a smile
but the smile is just a cloud
that sits in the dark sky
i am just trying to reach out
to those who seem to be passing me by
