I Will Carry the Weight – Sunday 8th April 2001

I Will Carry the Weight

they will never break my back
i will carry the weight
i will carry the spade
i am a slave to fate
i am constantly digging my own grave
they will never make me like them
i will shadow box forever
i will carry the weight
and i will paddle upstream
i am living in a world of dirt
but my hope is clean

they will never break my back
their suits may make the decisions
but i can carry the weight
i court the affections of destiny
it is kind of distant
but occasionally it speaks to me
they will never break my back
i will carry the weight
i will carry the spade
i will carry the flowers
and we will tend our own graves
