Can’t Stop The Thinking

i can’t stop the thinking
i can’t stop the wondering
in amongst the mess
in amongst the trash
i can’t stop the hurting
i go out to parties
and vainly try the flirting
but it is not working
i can’t stop the thinking
i stare at the wall
can’t stop the drinking
or feeling so small
i go to places that i like
places where i have always been around
but it does not seem right
i still feel stupid and down
i can’t stop the thinking
the ideas i held
that i thought we would share
that no longer meld
because you are no longer there
to show me how we used to care
