Blazin’ Beat – Saturday 23rd November 1996

Blazin’ Beat

city streets
in a blazin’ beat
i wander amongst the lights
black cabs and frosty hands
mingle freely in this urban land
city streets,
of a cosmopolitan nature
on the jubilee line into waterloo and the future
everything is here,
in a cocktail of the past and present
as i travel down to embankment
just by john adam street
with the griffin on the corner
for professional types to meet
i rush for my tube
on my worn city feet
from the rich to the poor
husky buskers
and not such a sweet bird in a restaurant door
people hustling all the time
for the right time and destination
never finding who you want
when you want to meet the right people
dawn till night time
always on the city streets
in a blazin’ beat
