She Left Marilyn in Her Dreams

she left marilyn in her dreams
so it seems
and aspirations are everything
to a child of seventeen
she met me somewhere new
i had the rules
which she seemed to have invented
obstacles are there
this is the time at six
when it was dark after the film
and i did not want to climb the stairs
i wonder what she needs
does she believe i have something?
do i believe i have something?
she almost touched me
but she still remains closer to marilyn
i am a misfit too
just like everyone and you
though blondes can have more fun
she will be looking hard
for a dangerous gentleman
she said, amongst dinner,
things i never expected to hear
so it seems,
she has left marilyn in her dreams
