she is a girl
she is a somebody
not a nobody
i am a child
but i am a somebody
give me a lucky break
i do not play the lottery
i do not do a fake
and wear lipstick
by day a postman
at night, a lonely boy
i do not do that

she is a girl
that i could watch close
inches from her smile
stay a minute, stay a while
i am not down and out
i am placed here by consent
if you think this is a pit
then it is a descent
but if you are on the up
then you can see the moon as a crescent
she is a girl
an unexpected gift
