Take Me to the Cellar – Written Monday 7th October 2019 (Aged 44)

Take Me to the Cellar

i spent this life, my life
sharpening my resolve
honing my resilience
at the insistence i keep going
now i have you,
only you, just to believe in me
and guide me to the cellar
when the inevitable storm comes
i look at the other ego maniacs
and i envy their shallowness
and the irony that,
for all that shallowness on the outside
nothing cuts so deep,
now i have you,
only you, just to believe in me
how many personal crisis
can one life have?
how many crisis can a lifetime take
take me to the cellar
so the storms do not seal my fate
