Palms Press Against the Past
feelings of the past
bleed from these walls
these early edwardian walls
built around 1905
i feel the people who have lived here
now they have died
they are not ghosts
or sea shanty figures
they are somehow real
bleeding from these walls
this grand house
now turned into a place of three
tonight, with electric light
it watches me
feelings of the past
bleed from these walls
i realise that in the grand scheme
i am just so small
i touch the paper
on the plasterwork of the walls
palms press against the past
we are all here for such a short time
none of us physically really last
