Roast Beef and Silence (Originally Untitled) – Written August 2005 (Aged 30)

Roast Beef and Silence

what kind of relationship is it??
you never talk about emotion
you never talk about the past
you never talk about the abuse
no, nothing is ever really said
feelings are just locked in a box
and hidden under eternities bed
it is all politeness and how do you do
never daring to cross the line
eye contact is a glaze
and polite pleasantries are exchanged
what kind of relationship is that?
why do you never look forward
and certainly never look back
just how big is that box
that sits under eternities bed
is it full of lost hope and resentment
and all of the things never said
feeling that you were bottled up inside
what kind of relationship is it?
when you share nothing
nothing of any real importance
smiling politely and never talking
roast beef and silence on sunday
what kind of relationship is that
