No One Can Know Us
no one can know us,
not truly
because we hide away
and some of what we are is unruly
we are are just peasants farming the land
we are lords of the manor
but rarely are we so grand
no one can know us,
the desperation that we must
ties your bicycle to a railing
and leaves it to rust
no one can know us,
no one truly does
but the misunderstanding of absolute understanding
appears to be a must
and you can watch them
claw at your wall
proclaiming they know you
but you know they will fail
no one can know us,
not truly
it would be, ‘nice’, if they did
but to be honest
the true knowledge of life has already hid
