I Should Have Kicked it Down the Hall
i should have kicked it,
down the hall
when i was twenty one
that would have got it done
i should have drunk less
i should have taken her out
i should have said no to them
i should have held on tighter –
to that bannister
i should have avoided –
that thirty something implosion
my personal town centre –
has never looked the same
but i succumb to planning permission
and the developers came
dressed to the nines
with seductive lines
and super sweet minds
i should have played it,
with both hands
i should have written her a poem
she could actually understand
and i should have remembered –
all the lines
in that sitcom that we wrote
does she now remember green park?
and how that dream went up in comedy smoke
i should have kicked it,
down the hall
when the i was young and the world felt small
