St Ann’s Road
when i thought back
to our time
in st ann’s road
it broke me
and i cried tears
that had been fermenting
for twenty plus years
st ann’s road
back then
the struggle and the huddle
the arguments and the frost
the friends, the cats
one whom was lost
i just saw something
and,
it broke me
it was that early writing pad
that had lived there in the flat
a memory that took me right back
st ann’s road
they were some of the best of times
but just to find that possession
i thought of them
and how they are no longer here
it broke me
i shed twenty plus years of fermented tears
back to st ann’s road
so long ago…
through the mists of thickly scented time
