The Misuse of Power and Position

i think –
people fall into bullying
without realising
perhaps –
that is the saddest of all
i feel sorry for them
i see,
storerooms of anxiety
warehouses of personal calamity

i think –
people bully as a gut response
they do not mean to
(perhaps)
but the end result is the same
they are,
part of a chain
that is the saddest of all
i wonder if their anxiety
is a tightly bound ball

i pity the people
who step on others
my thinly spread empathy –
finds it way
to the corners of my understanding (just)
i feel some despair –
that life experiences put them on a train
and taken them there
the place where they misuse their power and position
standing under a station roof, feeling scared
