Cruel – Written Wednesday 19th July 2006 (Aged 31)

Cruel

she held me in her arms
and i told her
how much it had hurt
but for her
and my dignity
i was being strong
she said, you life is not empty
look at all those who came along
monday night,
with a few friends drinking
we listened to the music we love
a weekend of friends
where time never seemed to be enough
she held me in her arms
and i felt those bedroom shadows –
retreat away from causing me harm
you can be alone in a crowded room
i know,
i have lived in that room
but i am not lonely
or even unloved
why would someone be so cruel
and say such a thing
