An Egotistical Fool Girl
I was downtown,
talking to a good‑looking girl —
when I had to pop her head,
all because
it started to swell.
I’m sorry —
you took my compliments
to heart.
You’re so big‑headed, girl,
but I was a fool,
thinking you were
so smart.
A five‑mile layer
of make‑up,
a thigh‑high skirt —
it doesn’t surprise me
why they call you
a tart.
They say
you’ve no love,
no heart,
your eyelashes,
like your emotions,
are just pretend —
cry‑baby notions.
Girl,
you’re an onion,
layered
and hollow.
You command
false respect,
and pity’s
all that follows.
