Long Way Down
you are placed on a pedestal
so far to fall
god enough to keep the bed warm
good enough to play the part
how you are hated
when you break a heart
names are swiftly counted
no time to measure –
the distance of the fall
finding hate instead of pleasure
once you fall from the pedestal
what do people love…
is it the person?
or is it falling in love with love
and if that is the case
the one person will never be enough
expectations will be high
it is easy just to lie –
and pretend it is okay
but you have to be truthful
you have to be honest
you are placed on a pedestal
and you must know, as you look around
it is a long way down
