Take Down the Flags
take down the flags
forget the street parties
small towns stop smiling
it is the end of the world
a cold summer awaits
i stole a coin from fate
its cold fingers found my plate
look around,
it is such a state
do not bake sausage rolls
forget the canopies
and the vol au vents
take the down the flags
let the modern grin
close the factory gates
let’s play top trumps without sin
the end of the world is coming
do not mend your teeth
no need to look skinny
it is the end of the world
