The Goodness – Written Friday 7th February 2020 (Aged 44)

The Goodness

i do believe in something stronger
i am no naive,
not in the way i was when i was younger
just days after,
they abolished the pound note
and days before,
the king finally grabbed its coat
i do believe there is a goodness
and the majority of people –
can care for each other
and it is not like when i was younger
when i pledged my allegiance to lovers
some of whom quickly lost their hunger
as we played adult hide and seek under the covers
i do believe,
but so many have had their hope quashed
and so many,
were happy with the post boom settlement figure
so may have had their brain thoughts washed
but i still believe,
that we have each other and that all is not lost
