What Are They Looking For?
what are they looking for
do they believe
there is a magic door –
that just needs a key
a better future,
for which they are interviewing me
i could tell them each day
why this thing they chase
has never become more –
than a dream in their head
and a hope running through their heart
just as when i hear certain words
i can see why it falls apart
if life imitates art
then they must know –
why the punchline hits so hard
leaving such a bloody nose
it is much harder to laugh
