Marzipan Life
they built their –
marzipan life
of cake to spare
and carefully cultivated care
they have not contacted me
since my dad died
their marzipan life
has layers of lies
and ingredients of spice
and none of it these days –
tastes very nice
but what did we expect
they have spent time –
reinventing the wheel
burying their past
just next to how they feel
they have built –
their marzipan life
not to share or enjoy
but so they can pretend
childhood had the relevant toys
i i still cary and i still hold –
sentences they have said to me
in moments and times
i am sure they would like to forget
i hope they enjoy –
their marzipan life
and all that cake –
does not leave them stuffed full of regret
