Thirty Something Party (Originally Untitled) – Written October 2010 (Aged 35)

Thirty Something Party

is it just a thirties thing
has the party reached a point
where the alcohol we have desired
and the food we have craved
has all been drunk and eaten
and now we are left,
to fight over scraps
knowing that in our lives
there is no way back
is it just a thirities thing
that leaves some of us at the party
holding drinks, looking for a coaster
some of us are still clinging,
to the crazy roller coaster
is it just a thirties thing,
has the party reached a point
where it is devoid of meaningful guests
and i am left holding my plate and a bag
looking to clean up the mess
