I Tried to Trace It
you had an edge,
and,
i tried to trace it
as we started talking
i remember,
‘way back when’
when we were miners
mining for conversational gems
at night,
the dance floor beckoned
and we talked about our lives
and how we had got more –
than we had ever reckoned
you had an edge,
and,
the light caught your face
it had in the ravines around your eyes
those years render our looks
and experience never hides
the field grows high,
and talking acts like sythe
i wonder about,
the shoes had worn
something in you was pushing
i tried to talk to you
sometimes words act like a cushion
