Draped in the Union Jack – Written Tuesday 14th December 2008 (Aged 33)

Draped in the Union Jack

draped in the union jack
those lost, cold and still
are flown back
needless causes and pointless spats
the general public say nothing
as the coffins come back
x factor, strictly come dancing
radio shows with ill thought out pranks
over thirty thousand complained
and the daily mail said, no thanks
faces turning red with rage
when throw-away comments
by others are made
but they show numb restraint
when the dead soldiers come home
not a single complaint
hate, greed and even poverty too
the things that actually matter
do not seem to raise a point of view
no pressure group or website
no urge to rush and complain
and voting scandals on silly t.v shows
seem to drive the public insane
the hot coals heavy on their backs
not a word raised in anger
for the coffins draped in the Union Jack
