Piece of Land

people claim you
like a piece of land
x marks the spot
you are searching base camp
location sadly forgot
people find pieces of you
pieces of you –
that you thought were lost
or forgot
or never found
confusion marks the spot
people make claims
they never cycled through
up your hill of pain
supported your losses
and celebrated your gains
how they see –
is different to how –
you see yourself
you are clambering about
clinging to a star belt
others love you
in ways never truly felt
