Upside Down Bible
when power –
and privilege are corrupted
absolutely,
it holds a bible upside down
and stands –
with the military
when compassion runs dry
a government addresses its people
and overflows with lies
when an administration
realises there is power, togetherness –
and empowerment in unity
it attacks its own people
and acts without impunity
and that is happening now,
capitalism is fatally wounded
and it is bleeding out
when power
and privilege are dressed up –
as, ‘success’
and traits to be admired
then it reminds us
why we need to speak truth to power
