Three Card Trick – Written December 2000 (Aged 25)

Three Card Trick

i am in fear of those who settled down
those who completed the three card trick
education, job and relationship
they were wear smiles,
which defy the size of their faces
their smile spreads for miles
i am in fear of these people
or is it that put simply, i am jealous?
perhaps it is because i cannot understand
how they were dealt such a good hand

the three card trick
education, job and relationship
they might have had lofty dreams
but when it comes down to it
i wonder if they settled for second best
and then i wonder how they can
i think about all there is
and i look at them and i do not understand
i am in fear of those
who settled down
who completed the three card trick
education, job and relationship
