One Day He Will Be Gone
he is dad
maybe just in name
but… dad, all the same
father,
if that is preferred
if it suits
you can change some things
but not the path of your boots
not your maps
or your roots
he is here
and he is alive
and no matter what is felt inside
surely it is better to talk now
than simply hide?
i had to face this
i had to turn
i had to be humbled
before i could learn
speak to him now,
because one day, he will be gone
