I Am Not Your Identity
some people need their own identity
yet, they try to take others
and when that does not work
they will create their own
even if that really does hurt
some people need their own identity
somehow, in their life
being them has been overlooked
no chance to build confidence
i am not your identity,
i have my own
conditions and disorders,
they are not your identity
i am sorry if you feel so alone
and i am sorry,
that part of you is never really home
some people need their own identity
and they try to copy others
i looked for mine,
in alcohol, play and distant lovers
then i got lost in my mind
but from under held down covers
it became clear over time
some people need their own identity
