All So Plain – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

All So Plain

there is a girl called sarah
I thought –
she is not like jenny
or in fact, any
but in reality –
they are all the same
they try to be different
but end up being plain
and,
if i am left,
looking arrogant
remember, it is not me
who yearns to be different
it is not me –
who thinks it is great to be cool –
and lost inside my head
i am looking for jewel
so it all means nothing
bitching in a hole
just hoping it means something
celebrating your dole
hanging around –
melting with the shadows
dressed in black
it is all just the same
and all so plain
