Moat

i never knew –
that i was drowning
till you helped me float
i never knew –
i was besieged –
until you lowered the drawbridge
and made your way across the moat
i never knew –
that i was drowning
till you helped me float
i never knew –
that i needed rescuing –
from my own castle
till i saw you lower my drawbridge
and make your way –
across my moat
i never knew i was lost
until i found your direction
so many hopes and dreams
filled with your sweet, sweet affection
