We Were Dreamers – Written Friday 17th October 2014 (Aged 39)

We Were Dreamers

we were dreamers
just dreamers
balloons and bubbles
just bubbling
left to float
we were foolish once
and did not ask
the right questions
and as our age
has led us forwards
and as our youth
has restacked the chairs
as life has demonstrated
its many lows
we children once
but then just babies
newborn
we never knew then
that adulthood could be so torn
we were dreamers
just dreamers
