Days That Sailed Far Away

it is the things you do,
what happened to me?
what happened to you?
the past is just a ship –
that sails far away
your younger days
left with little to say
your past,
way back there
days so very long ago
days that sailed far away
i look at the plotlines
and i tell the stories
you never think about the years
when i was young
i was fashioning art out of my tears
i have done what i can
with all these broken parts
families are families
some say, well, we all just play a part
