On Top of the World
some people claim
to be on top of the world
but their claim
needles the insane
when will the pain be tamed?
and not have such a vicious bite?
i have watched them
as they become exposed
old fashioned horse and cart
old fashioned clothes
even though you are falling apart
you whistle a happy tune
that does not really work
some people can shut out the cold
and claim even when they are not,
that they are on top of the world
