All Those Life Plans

i thought
i had it all worked out
but what did i know
why don’t you come here
and please, do not go
these days,
i choose my smile from a box
i go to bed when it is cold
i wrap up and wear the warmest socks
i thought
all this rain would stop
but it keeps on falling
these days
i hear a calling
and its language is unknown
all these fears
are just homegrown
i thought
i had it all worked out
but what did i know?
