I Never Knew – Written Between Tuesday 15th February 1994 and November 1994 (Aged 18/19)

I Never Knew

i never knew
that things could go this way
and i am lucky
i will will get home alright today
you say so much,
always flirting
i have just left a sweetheart
and i am still hurting
and even if you are never enough
i will give you everything i have got
i would laugh through the tears –
if i could
and if they tell me it is wrong
there is no way i would listen –
there is no way i would
i never knew you
when i was always shouting
now i am going for a second time
it is hard this time around
i hope the weather is fine
too many people –
chase absolute time wasters
sometimes what you want
is not always what you thought was the best
but it is so right –
you have got to show it some respect
and as i grow into something new
now as i get older
i seem to grow just for you
to stop my world becoming colder
i know you well, so i guess when i take
i will just have to tell
