carry them up the hill
on the back –
of the donkey that you saved
carry the burden
do not spoil the lathe
because memories act like a blade
in them, you are duly made
carry them up the hill
like a pig caught in a poke
make comfort –
with your handwritten jokes
because memories act like a blade
and love can be too easily made
in it, you are duly made
