Looked Over and Looked Under

i am looked over
and looked under
my life
has been well sprung
but it feels like
i have always been unsung
maybe that is the self pity
that i store up
for days where the rain
decides to stay
and my thoughts
do not want to play

i am looked over
and looked under
my life
a succession of sayings
and phrases
that other people
have said
but they get the praise
and the promotion instead
maybe that is self pity
and maybe that is not true
but that is often how it feels
when i take in my view
