We Do Not Talk Anymore – Written July 2010 (Aged 35)

We Do Not Talk Anymore

we do not talk anymore
‘mental health’
we are all expected –
to carry on
holding our kitbag
singing the same song
joining in
to the society created
not mentioning
that we may not be elated
there is surprise –
in the glare
of the media eyes
when people do not fit
or feel that they belong
when we all –
have those feelings
instead we live in –
a consumption led society
we are as throwaway
as the goods we buy
yet we measure our success
in this disposable wealth
and still we do not talk about
‘mental health’
