I Let Someone Go Last Night

i let someone go last night
from moments
when we held each other tight
to standing there,
with a permanent goodnight
i put what i once felt
back into a box
ad pushed it under the stairs
there is a lot of my past
stored under there
the wedding pictures
that someone else
never really took
and so many many
writing pads and books
last night i moved on
i said goodbye to something
that one upon a time
i hoped would be forever
but there can be a large catch
on the word, ‘together’
so last night i let an ideal slip away
i said nothing,
i pulled my jacket in and walked away
