No Black and White
it seems
there is guilt by association
that your gender
remains a defining trait
as if that –
is your only state
we all use stereotypes
for different reasons
we all like –
the occasional piece of set behaviour
but equality, it seems armed
and the war of words
someone will be harmed
we all like –
to recognise and problem and answers
an answer that stands out
with a simple shout
truth and its ‘isms’ are complicated
there is no black and white
good or bad, dark or light
and in the rush to be the victims
to point out the oppressors
and i am left just numb
in this race to identify the aggressor
