I Am Overwhelmed – Written Wednesday 12th May 1999 (Aged 24)

I Am Overwhelmed

another day
and,
i am overwhelmed by this paradise
the beauty i see in people
that gives me so much hope in life

another day
and,
i see a divided world
canyons and chasms
and,
i am poisoned like a cynic
tainted as i am with sarcasm

another day
and,
i am overwhelmed by this paradise
the beauty i see in people
they give me so much in this life
in them, i do see tomorrow
but i do see the colour of its sky
i see that it is bleak
and i see clouds buried deep –
right down to the horizon

another day
and,
i am so glad to see what i do
i think i will leave having children for a while
this world seems bleak
and i would not want children who cannot smile
and ones, so bitter when they speak
