Bird Race

i do not want to be part of the rat race
i do not want to be part of a crowd
i would rather be flying
i would rather be part of a bird race
not a rat race
flying, surely that would be freedom
away from the pointless humdrum
i could get far above a tedious life
i could get nearer to the sky
and perhaps nearer to the truth
if that is what you believe
i do not want to be part of a rat race
i would rather be flying
so i long to be part of a bird race
rats may survive anything and everything
but i would rather do my piece and leave
i do not want to overstay my welcome
if only i could be part of the bird race
