Saving Myself
I had to save myself,
as I watched them drip
and slowly weep.
I turned away
and slowly went to sleep—
in the darkest room
where things fight.
I run and hide
to save myself
from the night.
I ran away
to the circus,
but they only said no.
I was too much of a freak;
because when they looked at me,
they said, just go.
I found it hard to speak.
I ran quickly,
away from my bed—
dry and dumped,
like the words once said.
Holding up my conscience
to the light,
rainbow colours
shone through,
and it was alright.
I had to save myself—
but at least,
I was the same
as everyone else.
