Healthy Open Sign – Written Monday 2nd August 2021 (Aged 46)

Healthy Open Sign

your big soft eyes
with a neon open sign –
dangling from them
they are just a distraction
and represent my inability –
to deal with my challenges
and it does not open up
to new found happiness
only to my own need to collapse –
in the rubble of wanton destruction
because it is easy to confuse oblivion
with hopeful construction

you arms
with their in built comfort
and a hint of warmth
remind me that their are distractions
and that i can be a coward
when dealing with flirtations
and when it comes to finding the plate
and stepping up to it
in another place
somewhere else in time and space
there would be a healthy open sign
hung around your attractive face
