Northern Queen
she is the northern queen
to this southern soul
this essex landscape
that my life has framed
this environment,
my word is as hopeful
as a tudor barn
she is the northern queen
arriving from the moors
the dales and the market towns
schooled,
in part, in devornshire ways
and the southern downs
i am the highway man
on the southern roads
like the A127 and the A13
holding up my own life
as she arrested me
and gave me only the blessed light
she is the northern queen
who has found this farmer
one that has farmed many commotions
tipping his hat to an estuary
that longs to be seen as an ocean
she is the queen of my love
the songsmith of my every emotion
