Certain Highs

there are certain highs i need
applause,
feelings,
new ventures, new doors
running to the edge
not getting bored

there are certain lows i can leave
knees,
down moments,
catastrophes that push me around
that play long
but with the most hollow of sounds

let’s go
outwards bound
climbing trees
like hope changes a season
and replaces the leaves
you mean everything
if not already
but then in so many ways you already do
that is –
why i am emotionally devoted to you
