Staring Down the Barrel of Forty
staring down the barrel of forty
how did i end up here
i have travelled through time
it appears that i go nowhere
i look at pictures of me,
when i was young
in some i look innocence
in others i just look done
occasionally i have a hunger
i do remember all the adventures
but seems so hard –
to say they are sum of my years
you carry on through life
just trying to keep the screen clear
occasionally, you look for a passenger
someone you can keep near
staring down the barrel of forty
