Ten Fingers on Just Two Hands
it is all too much
just a chance –
i ache for a touch
you know –
they are strange
it is mental health
not mental wealth
you know –
take it from the shelf
take it from somebody else
they do not know –
about my dream
the deadly things –
i did at seventeen
it is all too much
i’d like to understand
i have to conserve what i can
ten fingers –
on just two hands
only so much i can hold
it is all too much
but i am asleep by the pillow
i ache for a touch
and the breeze through a willow
